Stayed October 2016 : This place is beautiful! If you're looking for seclusion this is the place. 13 large bungalows with private jacuzzis. The food was incredible and service was top notch..Ocean kayaks and hobie cat are included. If you stay here there is no reason to rent a golf cart. The hotel will pick you up in San Pedro by boat. You can get a cart but it's an extremely long drive to San Pedro. 45 min to 1 hour and there is a toll bridge that's 5.00bn each way

Stayed January 2017 My husband and I wanted a place to get away from it all, and boy, did we find it! Granted, a place like this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but we enjoyed it immensely! First off, you land in Belize City, then take a commuter plane to San Pedro. From there, it's a 25 minute boat ride to el Secreto. It's very secluded, and the only way to get to town is either boat or golf cart. At first we were a little worried about the food, as there were no other options close to the resort. Those fears fell by the wayside once we had our first dinner - delicious! We ended up buying the meal plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner and were not sorry that we did...all meals were delicious and beautifully prepared. We had fresh fish most every night, and local fishermen had caught fresh lobster while we were there so we had that one night as well. We spent our days laying around the pool reading and snacking, and enjoying wonderful cocktails (try the coconut mojito!). One day we took a ride on a golf cart and explored the island and other resorts, but were glad to get back to el Secreto. There is a little bar on the beach about a mile south called el Norte, we walked down there and had beers one day and had a blast! El Secreto also offer all kinds of tours and excursions for snorkeling and diving, as well as day trips, etc., but we were more than content to just be lazy on the beach. One of the things we liked most about el Secreto (besides the seclusion) was the fact that it wasn't a huge resort. We won't stay in those huge monstrosities where you have to fight for a beach chair, etc. This place was perfect, so relaxed and peaceful. It was the perfect place to reconnect with my husband. Last, but certainly not least, is the staff. From the minute we got to San Pedro to the minute we left, all our needs were taken care of. Our boat captain Lou picked us up in San Pedro and navigated the night waters like a pro. Upon arriving at the resort, we were greeted by staff with rum punch and even received shoulder massages as we filled out our paperwork - nice touch! Everyone - and I do mean everyone - at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The servers and bartenders were so friendly, and William and Ethnie were especially helpful whenever we had any questions. So all in all, our visit to el Secreto was perfect, exactly what we were looking for. Thanks again to the staff for making our stay so memorable!
