The picturesque Tropea, one of the most important holiday resorts of Calabria, is definitively worth a visit: the town is built on a 40 m high cliff, directly over the Tyrrhenian sea, and from the old well-preserved center of town, with its numerous cafés, little boutiques and typical Italian little streets, you can enjoy a marvelous panoramic view over the sandy or gravel beaches, and the sea. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, located on a cliff, is near the city center as well. It is possible that the sandy beaches of the place, depending on the tides, are no longer present at certain times of the year.
