A graceful, almost formal garden separates the gîte from the owner's equally beautiful adjoining home and the mature trees and box hedging provide the perfect shade for a stroll. The partially beamed house itself, once part of an old fruit farm, has been converted into a very elegant home. An inviting pool sits behind the house in a private garden. The Lot-et-Garonne area offers a perfect place to relax and there are lots of interesting things to see and do. Tonneins stands above the River Garonne and was once the tobacco capital of France. It is a pleasant town with several cafés, bars, individual shops, a large post office and three supermarkets. Agen is a bustling town with many restaurants and great shopping. Villeneuve-sur-Lot has a market every Tuesday and Saturday morning, whilst Marmande, famous for its tomatoes, holds a tomato festival every July.
