A long driveway lined with century-old cypresses goes up to the Castello. The castle built in the Middle Ages, then enlarged during the Renaissance became a superb aristocratic residence with its own chapel. It is also recognized on the map of Valdichiana, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503.
Owned by the same family for several centuries, it stands at the center of a huge estate producing Chianti wine and olive oil that can be purchased directly from the property. It has been recently renovated, preserving the original character of the rooms with their antique furniture, its large 17th century fireplaces, its splendid terracotta, stone and marble floors, but it has been equipped with the most modern comforts: central heating , WI-FI Internet connection, satellite television, laundry room.
The garden overlooking the valley is planted with old trees, and the beautiful paved terrace now houses a swimming pool (16x6m) with a mosaic Roman staircase, an annex with two bathrooms/changing rooms and finally a hot tub (3 ,5x2.5m). From there, we also reach the gym.
The terrace is fully illuminated by beautiful wrought iron bollards. The Castello is 5 km from Monte San Savino where there are excellent restaurants, and 6 km from the A1 motorway junction which connects in less than an hour the main tourist sites of Tuscany such as Florence, Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano or Perugia. Rome is 1h30 from the property.
