Beautiful historic castle, whose origins date back to the 11th century. Erected in a dominant position to watch over the region and defend the surrounding lands, it stands in the hills of Chianti 15 km from Florence. A small medieval village stretches out at its feet, seeming to seek the protection of its high walls. It belonged to great families of Italian nobility and hosted famous guests such as Gioacchino Rossini, Giosuè Carducci and Enrico Fermi. Its owners, who acquired it in 1968, wanted to pay tribute to its original spirit. The walls, the two gates and the "decapitated" tower have stood the test of time to the present day. Finely restored, the castle is furnished with beautiful old rooms. This search for authenticity and elegance is in harmony with a selection of modern equipment (satellite television, telephone, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi connection available throughout the villa), making it very comfortable. .
The outdoor spaces, well maintained, include an Italian garden and a rather singular swimming pool built partly inside a greenhouse with lemon trees and partly in the open air. The panorama which is revealed on all sides still contributes to its charm. Near the castle, there is a small, partly uninhabited hamlet and the large cellars where the estate's wines and olive oil are produced - it is possible to organize tastings on site. The castle is about 2.5 km from Pontassieve, about 16 km from Florence and 30 km from the airport, and about 80 km from Siena. A tennis court and an equestrian center are 5 km away and a golf course 25 km away.
