Among the historic villas that surround the city of Lucca, the Villa occupies an important place due to its historical and artistic value. Located 6 km from the old city, it was built around the year 1500 for the Buonvisi family. Its domain, entirely enclosed by walls, extends over 5 hectares and three different levels, divided into different gardens: even today, it is a wonder for the senses, which at every second creates surprise and gives to see a new world. Everywhere fountains with water games, waterfalls, statues, amphitheatres of oaks, green massifs and rare species. Its beauty and its rarity immediately rank the Villa among the most beautiful historical gardens in Italy. Next to the Villa - occupied by the owner - are the old stables dating from the 16th century and recalling an interesting anecdote from the time of Louis XIV: Buonvisi once declared that his stables outclassed in beauty one of the most famous halls of Versailles . Stung, the Sun King sent an ambassador to verify his statements, the latter then discovered with amazement that the walls of the stables were covered with gold coins bearing the King's effigy and Buonvisi won his bet. It is in this building that the tenants of the Villa are accommodated, in a large apartment on different floors, facing the villa, the garden and the swimming pool. The furniture is Tuscan style, welcoming and comfortable: in addition to two fully equipped kitchens on two different floors, there are two smaller ones with a more intimate atmosphere. All rooms, except the ground floor, are equipped with air conditioning. These rooms on the ground floor open onto a private garden and the swimming pool, but also onto a beautiful space fitted out with a barbecue and a summer dining room. The swimming pool (18x8m) can sometimes be shared with the owner's son when he visits the estate; and a synthetic turf tennis court is also available to guests. In recent years, the Villa has served as a prestigious setting for a classical music festival, during certain evenings in August. These concerts take place in the garden facing the loggia of the villa, a unique opportunity to spend a wonderful and unforgettable evening.
