Stayed March 2017 This place was very beautiful. A true gem in Playa Chaquita. Accommodating to a later than expected arrival, and has plenty of fresh drinking water, clean towels and help with questions when ever needed. The back yard was magnificent , so much beauty in the plant life and wild life. Also, peaceful to fall asleep to the sounds of a private jungle orchestra playing outside the windows and doors of the bedroom. Unique pieces of art and sculpture and literature all around. Felt very safe and close enough for a short drive to the next town and into puerto Viejo. I loved the yoga studio / retreat just down the hill from the residence, Tierra de yoga. Yoga every morning at 9 am. I ended up taking a longer than expected walk to a bakery in Cocles, but it was well worth it and in the pouring rain ! A local man on a quad generously offered me a ride back. We never rented bikes but I think that would be a good thing to do to get around. A beautiful beach , almost private was just a short walk down a path just to the right coming out of the lodge. Beautiful. The only disappointments we had were in the weather not permitting for sea activities such as snorkeling , kayaking ,dolphin seeing , as offered as activities. Also, we did not know about the water restriction at a certain time during each day , and were thrown off a bit the first day we had no running water. But, was well explained to us in a helpful manner and we were actually grateful for the back up tanks as 6 of us all together became more conscious of our use and how the people in and around playa chaquita take care of reserving water. Take time to do some exploring around. There is a national park and lots of beauty along the coast. There is a wild life rescue/ sanctuary not far with a beautiful back story and animals that are being taken care of and safely introduced back into the wild. If you're looking for a nice place to eat some of our favorites were the bakery in cocles , Punta y Pasta for pizza , insalta mista, and pasta, also the bakery in puerto Viejo had yummy donuts and pineapple smoothies. (Pina and water , perfect ) also , chille rojo with a nice selection for vegetarian. All of Paolas places I looked at seemed wonderful and definitely felt able to relax and enjoy the beauty all around.

STAYED April 2017 I strongly recommend this location, it is a down hill walk to the beach, but the beach that you walk to is absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with this beach which is what I was mostly looking forward too... also Puerto Viejo is definitely one of the most laid back towns I've ever visited, food was great everywhere specially Koke Beach Rest. The house was everything you see in the pictures and more. The art in the house is phenomenal. I do recommend that you come prepared with bug spray!!

Stayed July 2017 This is a beautiful house and the gardens are fantastic. We loved being in the midst of the plants and wildlife of Costa Rica. Being able to see Howlers and Sloths right next to the house was awesome. Because it is open air there are bugs (part of Costa Rican living) and they do get into the bedrooms. We were there in July and it did rain. I loved sitting in the open air living room watching it come down. There are some leaks and it is damp and then again you are in are in a rainforest. The portable fans in the bedrooms were much appreciated! Maeva and the woman who cleaned were very nice and helpful. Having our house cleaned and laundry done while we were out exploring the most beautiful beaches in the world was much appreciated! If you love being outside with wildlife and close to beautiful beaches this is the house to stay in.
