Stayed August 2017 I'm a helicopter operator in Panama. I took a handsome Swiss couple to San Blas by Helicopter, to spend a day in the beaches of the Atlantic side of Panama. The weather turned really bad and it would have been too risky to cross the mountain range to fly back to the city, which is in the Pacific side of Panama. So after trying to cross the isthmus many different routes, I decided, for our safety, to spend the night at this very exquisite hotel in the historic Portobello bay and in a remarkable unharmed property. The property's only access is via a 5 minute smooth boat ride across the Portobello Bay because there is no road to this isolated and truly untouched tropical paradise. We had many mojitos and a delicious ceviche before dinner which was very good also. The rooms are amazing, a blend of local culture with as much luxury as any hotel anywhere. But the service from the local youth is what inspired me most. As a Panamanian in the tourist industry, I was extremely appreciative of the smiles from the young servers Leybis and Ileana and a property manager, Maria Chifundo. Also Luis was excellent with the drinks and early the next morning with very early check out. And great coffee. We didn't have breakfast there, because my clients had to catch a flight out Panama the next day. Our stay was spontaneous, really an emergency and it turned out to be a great experience for both my clients and I. Keep up the great work!
