St. Lucia, is an island of the Antilles. Located on the eastern edge of the Caribbean, St. Lucia is part of the Windward Islands and is located between the south, the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, southeast, and Barbados north of Martinique. Its area is 620 square kilometers and a population estimated at 170,000 inhabitants. Its capital, Castries has about 60,000 inhabitants.

One of the major draws for tourists to St. Lucia is its beaches, and there are several in or very near Castries: Vigie Beach, Malabar beach, Choc Beach, and La Toc Beach are all within easy reach.
During your stay in St. Lucia, do not miss the jazz festival that takes place in early May on Pigeon Island, an islet located in Gros Islet in the northern region of St. Lucia. Do not forget the Dennery Falls, in the Eastern part of the inland, a 65 feet waterfall, and the Diamond Falls, part of the Diamond Botanical Garden.
