Balenbouche Estate is a Historic Plantation Guesthouse set within a fascinating natural landscape on the south-western coast of St. Lucia,
just a 20 minute drive from the Hewanorra International Airport.
Nature trails meander through expansive tropical gardens, historic ruins, and fruit orchards,
leading to several secluded beaches adjoining the 70 acre property.
The Balenbouche Estate Heritage Site remains a working plantation, family home, and place of exceptional authenticity and tranquillity.
ACCOMMODATIONS
You can choose between our two bedroom/two bathroom self-contained cottages, our charming one bedroom cottages, and our double and single rooms.
The larger cottages offer a kitchen, living room and veranda, and can sleep up to 6 people. In the Almond House you have the option of renting the entire house, or just one of the bedroom/bathroom units (single or double occupancy). The Banyan House, ideal for a family or group, is only rented exclusively. The antique-furnished rooms in the Estate House share a bathroom.
Each room and cottage has its own individual character, blending in with the natural surroundings to convey a simple, yet luxurious tropical lifestyle.
Balenbouche Estate can accommodate up to 20 people, and is a popular venue for special events such as weddings, yoga and artist retreats, archaeological field schools, and the annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival. Children are welcome.
DINING
You can prepare your own meals in the cottages, or dine at the Plantation House, where delicious daily specials are created from an exotic blend of Creole, Asian and European cuisine. We offer various meal plans (full board, half-board, individual meals) which you can decide on a day-by-day basis.
AMENITIES
Laundry facilities, maid service, internet access, baby cot, standing fans, mosquito nets, and guided tours to attractions in the surrounding area.
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
The immediate area offers many sights and attractions, such as rainforest trails, waterfalls and rivers, beaches, wind surfing and kite surfing, local art and craft and historical sites. The towns of Vieux Fort and Soufriere are a 20 and 30 minute drive away. Although buses and taxis are available, we recommend that you rent a car for at least part of your stay in order to fully explore the surroundings.
