Description of the Domaine
4 bedrooms (2 bedrooms closed and 2 on 2 open mezzanines), sleeps 8 to 9 people and 1 baby cot. The property dates from the 19th century and consist of two "périgourdines" (200m²), recently restored. The privat pool (10x5 meters) and the covered terrace are accessible directly from the main house. The traditional farm house with the barn form the main house and the bread oven with the pigion-house form the other house opposite to the main house. The property consist of 15 hectares of land, grass and woodland, situated on a hill with a magnificent view, in a protected area for wild flore and fauna. The owner lives in an other house located on the end of the property.
Situation of the Domaine
La Brande lies between the villages of Saint Avit Sénieur (1,5 km) with his church and his abbey from the 11th century and Beaumont (3 km), famous English Bastide from the 13th century, in the valley of the Dordogne. It is the capital of the Canton in the Land of the Bastides. Beaumont has a fortified church in gothique style and an abbey classified world patrimonial by Unesco.
The picturesque village Limeuil, where the rivers Dordogne and Vézère meet, is 15km away. The Domaine also lies in the neighbourhood of lots of medieval villages, like Belvès, Monpazier, Château de Biron, Molière, Cadouin (with his cistercien abbey and his cloister and a bicycle museum), Issigeac, Lalinde et Sarlat-la-Canéda.
In Beaumont you can find all the essential shops ( bakerie, boucher, supermarket, écomarket, post office, banc, gaz station, cafés, restaurants, sport facilities, tourist information). Every Thuesday and Saturday morning there is a market. Other markets take place in the neighbour villages ( Thursday in Lalinde and Monpazier) and there you will find good restaurants as well. Bergerac (30 km) has big supermarkets. Beaumont has also a horse riding stable.
In Le Buisson (15 km), on the bank of the river Dordogne, you find good spots for fishing and a nautic base, where you can hire canoes. There is also a cinema and a railway station, so that you can travel to Sarlat, Bergerac and Bordeaux. In Bergerac is also a railway station and the nearest airport. Direct flights to England every day during the summer. Alles-sur-Dordogne (14 km) has a riding stable and golf courses can be found in Lolivarie (20 km) 18 holes, in Siorac (20 km) 9 holes and in Mouleydier, Château Les Merles Tuillères (15 km) 9 holes.
Accomodation
The entrance on the ground floor in the main house has a large fully equipped kitchen (34m²), which includes a dishwasher, an oven, a kitchen stove on gaz, a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a washing machine in the scullery. The luxury living room ( 60m2) has a big open fire place and there is television with TPS, a DVD and a CD/radio stereo system. Stairs from the living room lead upstairs to the mezzanine (25m2) with a double bed (1.60x2m) with bathroom and toilet. There is the possibility two beds one personn . On the other side of the house there is a large bedroom (34m2) with a double bed (1.60x2.00m), with bathroom and toilet.
The other house, at ten meters from the principal house, has a bedroom (30m2) on the ground floor with a double bed (1.60x2.00m) and a fridge. In the hall there is acces to the bathroom with toilet and stairs from the hall lead upstairs to a mezzanine (15m2) with a double bed (1.40x1.90m). All beds are equipped with duvets. Bed linen, towels and kitchen towels are included. Maximum capacity 8 people and a baby and the possibility to put one extra bed for one more person.
In the main house as well as in the other house you will find furniture and caracteristics from the 19th century.
Behind the main house lies the private pool with roman step, 10 x 5 meters with a dept of between 1.20 to 2.00 meters. There is a covered terrace with a barbecue (25 m2).The pool is situated in a lovely garden of 3000 m2 with a sublime view over the valley of Beaumont on one side and of the valley of Saint Avit Sénieur on the other side. There is garden furniture. The pool has a double security system ( two sonor alarms).
