The Location: Berlin - Wilmersdorf /Charlottenburg
The Kurfürstendamm stands for exclusive stores, for nightlife, for cafés, theater and chic department stores, in short: for urbane culture. Just a few steps south and you leave this boulevard and the metropolitan hectic pace behind you and move into a solid middle-class, sometimes villa-like part of town. Nevertheless it certainly doesn't lack the various restaurants and going-out possibilities that one desires. The Fasanenplatz, the Ludwigkirchplatz or the Rüdesheimer Platz along with their chic array of steetcafés, trees and water wells are popular meeting places of the Berlin residents. It becomes a more distinguished in the Fasanenstrasse with many the boutiques and galleries there.
When you head west of Berlin-Wilmersdorf you gradually leave the inner city, to arrive in the Grunewald along with its relaxing atmosphere and nature preserves. Here, in the middle of the forest on an elevation at the Havel the 56 m lain, offers the high Grunewaldturm a spectacular outlook on the subject of the Havelseen and sometimes until to Potsdam. The Teufelsberg(Devil's mountain) in the north of Grunewald was spread after the Second World War from ruins and at 110 m high is one of the supreme elevations of Berlin. And what could be more relaxing after a stroll of the Ku'damm than an excursion to the Grunewaldsee(lake) or the Hundekehlesee.
