Only 400 yards from Guadalmina Golf's clubhouse, Casa Orquidea (which has a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi) offers guests tranquillity and privacy. The en-suite double-bedded room has a terrace overlooking the garden and swimming pool; the twin-bedded room (with its private bathroom) leads straight into the garden via the downstairs terrace as does the double - bedded ground floor suite, which has English television it its sitting room.
Stuart and Geraldine Worthington welcomed many guests to their previous home - The Old Rectory at Blore, near Ashbourne, in central England's beautiful Peak District - until the autumn of 2000, when they moved to Spain.
Their same warm welcome and hospitality is now offered in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. (It is, however, regretted that children under the age of 15 cannot be accepted).
Guadalmina, a quiet and select residential area 1 mile south of the town of San Pedro de Alcántara (which itself is the most westerly part of the municipality of Marbella) has two 18 hole golf courses (and a 9 hole 'pitch and putt'). There are also several shops, medical and dental practices, banks and restaurants all with within 5 minutes walking distance from Casa Orquidea - and the well-known beach side Guadalmina Golf Hotel, famed for its Sunday lunches, can be reached by car in the same time.
San Pedro is an enchanting yet busy town, retaining its own natural "Spanishness". It lies half way between the towns of Marbella and Estepona (each some 5 miles away) and the airports of Málaga and Gibraltar are both only 45 minutes distance.
The old city of Málaga provides a mix of Arabic and Christian culture and Gibraltar, which has been a British colony since 1704 (and where there is no VAT!), has a wealth of history of its own.
