COTTAGE VACATION RENTAL in DOWNINGS - DONEGAL COUNTY - IRELAND.
Moira’s Cottage is about 150 years old and is set in the hills on the very top of the Rosguill Peninsula in North-west Donegal amid some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. The cottage enjoys panoramic views over Sheephaven Bay to the Derryveigh Mountains and out over the Atlantic Ocean to the towering cliffs of Horn Head and Tory Island beyond. If you long for tranquility and are looking for somewhere to 'get away from it all' surrounded by beauty - then this may be the perfect place for you.
It is a unique house - full of character, with a gentle and special atmosphere.
The kitchen is a spacious, light-filled room with an Aga, lots of natural wood, and a South-facing window seat where you can sit and look out at the scenery, read, or chat lazily with a friend in the sun.
The sitting room has an open-fireplace where you can sit around a turf fire with its gentle, lingering aroma. There is a cosy box bed, where you could choose to go to sleep with the light from the flickering flames dancing on the wall – or while your friends or family are still chatting by the fire – like in days gone by.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a big, antique 4-poster bed, and the other has 2, ¾ -size beds made of ash.
About 3k from the cottage is the lively village of Downings with its pubs and night-life. The Rosapenna Hotel, just outside Downings has 2, 18-hole championship golf courses. There are watersports of all kinds, horse-riding etc. There are also various restaurants in the area. |
