Two French doors and four windows open onto the conservation area ….from the entrance to the apartment you will feel as though the whole of Honfleur is at your feet.
On your left: there is Quai St Catherine with its narrow houses faced with blue grey slate and St Catherine’s church dating from the 15th Century.
Opposite: you will see the Vieux Bassin (Old Port), excavated on the orders of Colbert in 1682, the sailing boats and the old rigging, the Lieutenance (The house of the King’s Lieutenant dating from the 15th Century) and the outer harbour with its trawlers.
On your right: you will find Quai St Etienne with its superb 18th Century residences built in times past by the very wealthy ship-owners. St Etienne’s church (completed in 1432 and at present housing the maritime museum) and the Salt Stores built by the company responsible for levying salt tax with Colbert’s approval in 1670
Behind the apartment less than one minute’s walk away are 5 bakeries (with their famous French loaves, baguettes and “ficelles” which are similar but thinner), 3 butchers, 2 delicatessens providing home cooked food to take away, 3 grocers and a supermarket….
